May 30

1. Import photos into iPhoto and insert them into the podcast

2. Save your podcast and the


  • Pull down the Share menu

  • Export to disk, save in your folder as a Spoken podcast

  • Log on to your student server using Safari

  • Open the Groups folder

  • Drop the saved version into Hand-In folder for this class



May 29

  1. Open Garage Band, create a new podcast episode, and save it to your documents folder

  2. Select Male or Female voice (depending on your gender:-) and use the record button to record your podcast

  3. Record your narrative in segments. Use the record button to start recording and the space bar to stop.

  4. Tips

  • Speak clearly and slowly into the microphone and always at the same volume level

  • Find a quiet place to record.

  • Do not hit the space bar hard because that sound will be recorded on your podcast.

  • Stop recording a second after you stop speaking so your words are not cut off.

  • Be sure to record in segments.

  • 2 to 3 minutes in length!

  • Open Stickies in applications, create a new Sticky Note, pull down the Note menu, select Floating Widow. Copy/Paste your narrative onto the Sticky Note.


Save often!



5. Drop photos in iPhoto, drag the photos into an album which you create, insert them into the podcast.



May 27 and 28

1. Collect all information

2. Collect 5-7 photos/graphics

3. Create a storyboard using Power Point blank slides

Use Bullets, not sentences!

  • Title with essential question

  • Introduction

  • Explanation

  • Conclusion


Upload the Power Point and post on your wiki page.


4. Write a narrative essay completely answering your essential question. Focus on an interesting introduction, a fact filled answer, and concluding remarks. This narrative must be complete, well written and posted on your wiki page Thursday morning.

The essential question guides your research and provides focus for all of your information.Go to this link, read the information on the essential question. Then at the top of your page post an essential question. Next, in the discussion tab write an entry explaining your understanding of the essential question and end with your exact question which you will use in this project.



All notes for this project must be in Diigo by using the bookmarking, highlighting, and commenting features. Share each bookmark, highlight, and comment with the group with your name on it. Make the bookmark private also.


Many topics are too broad. You must narrow the focus to one specific aspect of the topic. Post any questions on the discussion tab of your page.


A. Research the topic in the following areas:

  • brief background
  • how this topic fits into US history
  • role of this topic
    • changes as a result
    • started a trend
    • positive or negative
B. Find two primary source documents related to the topic
C. Collect pictures, graphics, charts, etc. related to your topic

D. Keep a list of all citations of sources
E. All notes must be taken using Diigo by highlighting and commenting on each source
  • Share your articles with the group you created which includes me
